When I saw Baseball Guys I was intrigued. When I saw it didn't come with rules, it all made sense and the light bulb went off.
I made some simple rules, well far more simpler than Strat-o-Matic. Basically, you roll a d6 for balls/strikes/hits. If you get a hit, you roll a 2d6 to find the base. If you do get on base, the defense gets a 2d6 roll to see if they can get you out or not. This way, both teams get to participate in each half of the inning.
My 5 and 7 year olds love the field and players and the rules I've made. The best part is they love swapping their defense on and off the field at each half-inning, so they're really learning the game and each player participates on the field.
I highly recommend buying from Kaskey Kids, and this set in particular. Great for letting kid's imaginations run wild.
